BROWNWOOD, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl basketball team locked down the Howard Payne Yellow Jackets with an 83-48 on the road in American Southwest Conference play on Saturday afternoon.
The Cowgirls opened the ASC game at Howard Payne on an 11-0 scoring run and rounded out the first quarter up 24-8. Hardin-Simmons took the lead into halftime 46-22 over the Yellow Jackets.
The Cowgirls put the clamps on and held Howard Payne to shooting just 26 percent in the game for a final score of 83-48.
Hardin-Simmons shot 46 percent and led the rebounding margin 50-36 over HPU.
The Cowgirls had three players score double digits.
Madison Williams led with 16 points.
Paris Kiser had 15 points and
Samantha Tatum scored 13 points for HSU.
Savannah Bennett led the Cowgirls in rebounding with nine boards.
Anna Fanelli handed out five assists for the Cowgirls to lead the team.
The Cowgirls improve to 17-3 and 9-2 in the American Southwest Conference and will travel to play at Ozarks next Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in Clarksville, Ark. For another ASC game.
