ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl basketball team closed out to beat the McMurry War Hawks on Saturday in American Southwest Conference play in a road win 87-81.
Senior forward
Parris Parmer scored a career-high 29 points in the win over the War Hawks. She shot 12-19 from the floor and had a double-double, leading Hardin-Simmons in rebounding with 11.
The win brings the Cowgirls to 12-2 and 5-1 on the year in the ASC, dropping McMurry to 10-4 and 5-1 in conference.
There were nine lead changes in the game down at McMurry. The Cowgirls led at the half 39-37 and extended the lead to 56-51 heading to the fourth.
The game finished in a shootout, with both teams scoring 30 points in the final ten minutes. The Cowgirls shot 62% going 10-16 in the final stretch, ending the game on a 7-0 run in the last minute to beat McMurry 87-81.
Anna Fanelli had 18 points in her best scoring game of the year. Fanelli had five assists and six rebounds as well.
Paris Kiser scored 17 and had a double-double with ten rebounds.
Aiken Semones hit three 3-pointers and scored 11 for the Cowgirls.
The Cowgirls are 12-2 and 5-1 in the ASC and will host UMHB next Thursday at 5:30 in the Mabee Complex.
