ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl soccer team won 3-0 against LeTourneau for Cowgirl soccer senior night on Saturday at the HSU Soccer Complex in American Southwest Conference play.
Lexi Templin opened the scoring and had the Cowgirl game-winner in the 42
nd minute with an assist from
Taylor Garrett to make it 1-0 at halftime.
Gabby Aviles had a ball passed in from
Kaylee Maddox to Templin to reach Aviles who finished for goal in the 57
th minute to make it 2-0 HSU.
Aras King scored for the third straight game for the Cowgirls in the 79
th minute to make it a 3-0 final score. King now has three goals on the year, one in each of the last three games.
Templin and Aviles stay tied for the lead in the American Southwest Conference with 10 goals each for the season.
The Cowgirls shot the ball a remarkable 56 times with 23 shots on goal against LeTourneau. Hardin-Simmons had 18 corner kicks and allowed none.
LeTourneau had an incredible outing from both goalkeepers, with Kelauna Cruz getting five saves in 34 minutes before going out with an injury. Freshman Aleena Tuers came in for the Yellowjackets and had 12 saves at keeper in relief.
Jenna Russell had to touch the ball once with one save in the shutout win for the Cowgirl goalkeeper.
The Cowgirls improve to 12-1-2 on the season and 6-0 in the ASC and will travel to play at UT-Dallas in Richardson on Thursday before playing at UMHB in Belton Saturday in ASC play.
