RICHARDSON, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl soccer team defeated the UT-Dallas Comets 3-2 on Thursday night in a non-conference match on the road with a game-winning goal from
Aras King, her fourth straight game with a goal.
King scored in the 78
th minute for the third Cowgirl goal, and the game ended at 3-2 HSU making that the game-winner. King has now scored four goals this year, one against Howard Payne, East Texas Baptist, LeTourneau, and UTD, each of the last four games.
Belle Floyd opened the game for Hardin-Simmons with a goal to make it 1-0 in the 16
th minute assisted by
Caroline Burrow.
Lexi Templin scored her 11
th goal of the season in the 63
rd minute to push the lead out to 2-0 with an assist from
Presleigh Thiessen.
Texas-Dallas put together a goal to push it to 2-1 in the 71
st minute before King scored the third Cowgirl goal in the 78
th minute with a
Mercy Mummert assist. Mummert now has five assists this season.
The Comets added a goal to make it a 3-2 Cowgirl win on Thursday. HSU led with 20 shots and 11 shots on goal against UTD.
Janna Russel started in goal for Hardin-Simmons and finished with six saves in the win.
The Cowgirls improve to 13-1-2 on the season and will travel to Belton on Saturday to take on the UMHB Crusaders in ASC play at 5 p.m.
