ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy soccer team defeated the LeTourneau Yellowjackets 3-1 on Saturday in American Southwest Conference play on Cowboy senior night at the HSU Soccer Complex.
 
Jakob Fiol got his seventh goal of the season in the 15^th minute after finishing in tight after an assist from James Webb to take the lead 1-0.
 
The Cowboys played a ball in on a cross and two Cowboy attackers couldn't get to it, but the ball bounced off the back of a defender and scored an own goal to get the Cowboys up 2-0 in the 33^rd minute.
 
LeTourneau came back with a goal to make it 2-1 in the 68^th minute and the next 22 minutes were all gas from both squads.
 
The Cowboys earned a corner on a foul from behind in the 82^nd minute and Jack Sissen connected for his sixth goal of the season to make it 3-1 Hardin-Simmons for the win.
 
The Cowboys shot 22 times with eight shots on goal and had 12 corner kicks to lead eth Yellowjackets.
 
Reid Applewhite had the start in goal and got the win on senior night with three saves for the Cowboys.
 
The Cowboys improve to 9-3-2 on the year and 5-1 in the ASC and will travel to play at UTD Thursday and at UMHB Saturday next weekend.
