ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl soccer team won its fifth straight game with a 2-0 defeat of UT-Dallas on Saturday night at the HSU Soccer Complex.
UTD is transitioning to NCAA Division II and is not eligible for American Southwest Conference or NCAA postseason this year.
A Comet clearance reached the waiting feet of
Taylor Garrett who took a long-range shot for her second goal of the year for the Cowgirls, making it 1-0 in the fifth minute of the game.
Kaylee Maddox got a ball in on a corner that found
Gabby Aviles for her seventh goal of the season in the 11
th minute, pushing the Cowgirl lead to 2-0.
The Cowgirls dominated the field against UTD with 28 shots and 14 shots on goal to just three shots allowed and one shot on goal allowed. HSU had nine corner kicks and allowed one on defense.
Jenna Russell enjoyed a quite shutout win with just one save at goalkeeper for the Cowgirls.
The Cowgirls improve to 9-1-2 and remain 3-0 in the ASC with the next game at home against Howard Payne on Oct. 12 at 5 p.m.
