BROWNWOOD, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl soccer team scored seven goals in the 7-0 win at Howard Payne to end the regular season in American Southwest Conference play on Saturday.
Hardin-Simmons had to move up and play at an early kickoff due to weather concerns later in the day and didn't seem phased. The Cowgirls scored five goals in the first half against the Yellow Jackets and finished up 7-0.
Senior defender
Lauren Stengel scored her first goal of the season in the third minute for the game-winner at Howard Payne.
Caroline Burrow scored her second goal of the year for HSU in the 18
th minute to push the lead.
Lexi Templin continued to lead the Cowgirls and the ASC in scoring with a goal in the 30
th minute assisted by
Presleigh Thiessen.
Taylor Koch scored two goals in seven minutes, one in the 31
st and 37
th minutes, to get her to six goals on the year with assists from Burrow and
Rachel Bonnin.
Templin scored her second of the game in the 51
st minute to open the second half. She now has 13 goals on the season to lead the Cowgirls.
Belle Floyd scored her second goal of the year in the 57
th minute with an assist from
Kaylee Maddox to wrap up the big Cowgirl win on the road 7-0 against Howard Payne.
The Cowgirls shot 38 times with 19 shots on goal and allowed one shot. HSU had 11 corner kicks and allowed one as well.
The Cowgirls are now 15-1-2 and 8-0 in the ASC and look to be in post-season form heading to the ASC championship tournament next weekend, beginning Nov. 7 at the HSU Soccer Complex.
