TACOMA, Wash. – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl basketball teamed logged their seventh win of the season defeating Puget Sound 59-39 on Saturday afternoon in Washington state.
The Cowgirls trailed at the half 23-20 after a slow start from both teams. Hardin-Simmons outscored the Puget Sound Loggers 39-16 in the second half to win big 59-39 on Saturday.
The Cowgirls shot 32%, going 19-59 while the Loggers hit 16-44 shots for 36%. Hardin-Simmons had more rebounds with a margin of 29-26 and won the turnover battle, committing 13 and forcing 26 turnovers out of Puget Sound.
Madison Williams led the Cowgirls with 21 points at Puget Sound. She shot 6-26 from the floor and made 7-8 free throws to help the HSU offense.
Caroline Croft scored 12 points for the Cowgirls. She added an assist and made a pair of 3-point shots in the Cowgirl win.
Jacqueline Berry led the Cowgirls in rebounding with eight rebounds on the day.
The Cowgirl team improves to 7-1 on the season and will return to the state of Texas to host the University of Dallas on Friday at 5:30 p.m. and Austin College on Saturday at 4 p.m. in the Mabee Athletic Complex.
