LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy basketball team fell late to the Redlands Bulldogs 97-89 in the first game for HSU playing at the Las Vegas D3hoops Classic.
Hardin-Simmons trailed the Bulldogs 51-37 at the half but made a push on offense in the second.
The Cowboys pulled within three points with 10 minutes left, down 62-59. HSU cut it to two down 73-71 with six minutes and again with under two minutes at 87-85.
The Cowboys had to foul late and ended up falling to Redlands 97-89 in the team's first game in Las Vegas.
Austin Brewer led the Cowboys in scoring with 17 points, making 7-10 shots against Redlands.
Will Bartoszek scored 15 points, and
Silas Davis had a career-high with 15 points as well.
Chris Bryant scored 12 points and led the team with 10 rebounds for the double-double.
Silas Livingston had seven assists to lead HSU.
The Cowboys fall to 4-8 and will face New Paltz on Sunday at 4 p.m. and finish in Las Vegas Monday at 10 p.m. against Wittenberg.
