LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy basketball team defeated the New Paltz Hawks 83-74 on Sunday night at the Las Vegas D3hoops Classic behind 25 points from
Chris Bryant.
The game was back and forth with the Hawks leading 30-29 before
Austin Brewer got a Cowboy bucket to lead 31-30 with four minutes left in the first half.
Hardin-Simmons kept the lead for the remainder of the game, eventually getting out in front by 17 points early in the second half.
The Hawks got within seven of the lead with under five minutes to go, but Bryant added two straight scores to get HSU back up 76-65. The Cowboys took the game 83-74.
Bryant led the Cowboys with 25 points, shooting 10-13 from the floor. He leads the team with 16.8 points a game midway through the season.
Silas Davis scored 13 points in the win, with two straight games scoring double-figures.
Asher Fleming scored 12 points, and
Matthew Alexander had 11 points.
Brewer also scored 11 points and led with 10 rebounds to get the double-double.
Silas Livingston had eight assists to lead Hardin-Simmons.
The Cowboys get the win to improve to 5-8 and will wrap up the Las Vegas D3hoops Classic tomorrow at 10 p.m. against Wittenburg.
