LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy basketball team defeated the Wittenberg Tigers 64-53, leading the whole way in the low scoring affair at the Las Vegas D3hoops Classic.
HSU led 28-24 at the half and eventually led by 15 points before finishing off the Vegas trip with the win 64-53 over Wittenberg.
Chris Bryant was named to the D3hoops Classic all-tournament team for the weekend.
Hardin-Simmons shot 46%, making 25-54 shots from the field. They held Wittenberg to shooting 35% going 21-60 on the night. The Cowboys edged out the rebounding battle 38-35.
Seniors led the way for HSU on offense, with
Austin Brewer and
Will Bartoszek scoring 11 points each to lead the team. Brewer led with nine rebounds on the team and he and Bartoszek shot 5-10 from the field with one made 3-pointer.
The Cowboys finish the weekend in Las Vegas 2-2 with wins over New Paltz and Wittenberg. The Cowboys improve to 6-8 and will travel down to Concordia on Jan 4. to play at 3 p.m.
