SPOKANE, Wash. – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy basketball team fell 77-73 playing on the road at Whitworth on Saturday night.
The Cowboy's biggest lead of the first half was seven points before a pair of makes to end the half from the Pirates to cut the lead to 39-36 Cowboys.
The Cowboys got up by nine points on a few different occasions in the second half, but Whitworth came back to tie the game at 73-73 with under a minute to go and went on to win 77-74.
Hardin-Simmons out-shot Whitworth 46% to 40% shooting from the floor. The rebounding margin was nearly even with HSU taking it 41-40. The Cowboys had 11 turnovers while Whitworth limited themselves to only four turnovers.
Three Cowboys stied for the lead in scoring.
Chris Bryant had 14 points and six rebounds.
Will Bartoszek had 14 points and
Austin Brewer had 14 points with 10 rebounds for a double-double.
Hardin-Simmons falls to 4-4 on the year and will return to the Mabee Complex to host Trinity on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in Abilene.
