ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl basketball team defeated the McMurry War Hawks 81-74 in American Southwest Conference play on Saturday on Cowgirl senior day.
HSU honored five senior players before the game,
Paris Kiser,
Parris Parmer,
Kylie Ellsworth,
Samantha Tatum, and
Anna Fanelli.
The Cowgirls had a rocky start and trailed the War Hawks 31-29 after the first half. Hardin-Simmons had a big third quarter led by the senior scoring efforts to go up 57-49 heading to the fourth quarter.
Kiser scored eight points in the Cowgirl third quarter and Parmer had seven points. HSU got some big shots with makes on 3-pointers from Parmer,
Madison Williams, and
Aiken Semones to outscore McMurry 28-18 in the third.
The Cowgirls led by as many as ten points in the fourth and held the lead against McMurry 81-74 in the end for the ASC win.
Kiser led the floor with 33 points, including going 12-14 from the free throw line and made three 3-point shots.
Parmer had a double-double and led the Cowgirls in rebounding with 14 boards and scored 12 points.
Williams scored 12 points and
Savannah Bennett had ten points in the Cowgirl win.
Anna Fanelli had ten rebounds with six assists that led the Cowgirl team.
Hardin-Simmons improves to 20-3 and 12-2 in the ASC and will travel to play at Concordia Texas on Thursday night at 5:30 p.m.
