ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl tennis team took down two opponents on Saturday at the Streich Tennis Center, winning 8-1 over Texas Wesleyan and 9-0 against University of Dallas.
Laurel Coleman and
Jonnah Smith won the first doubles match 8-3 against the Rams. Christa Bennett and
Halle Smith won on a forfeit in the third doubles match.
Coleman won 6-3, 6-3 in No. 1 singles and
Brenna Gordon won a split match 2-6, 6-4, 1-0(13-11) in the second singles flight against Texas Wesleyan.
Jonnah Smith won at No. 3 singles 6-4, 6-2 and
Addyson Tylaska went up 6-1, 6-1 for the Cowgirls in four singles against the Rams.
Triniti McBride and Bennett both won via forfeit at five and six singles for the Cowgirls against Wesleyan.
The Cowgirls swept University of Dallas 9-0 in the afternoon game.
Bennett and
Halle Smith won the first doubles match 8-0 and McBride and
Lanae Blankenship won 8-0 in doubles No. 2. Coleman and
Jonnah Smith won three doubles on a forfeit.
McBride swept the first singles match 6-0, 60 and Bennett won the second singles 6-1, 6-1 for the Cowgirls over the Crusaders.
Halle Smith and Blankenship both won 6-0, 6-1 at three and four singles against Dallas, while Coleman and Gordon received wins at five and six singles on forfeits.
The Cowgirls are now 3-4 and will play against at home on March 2 against Oklahoma Wesleyan starting at 2 p.m. at the Streich Tennis Center.
