AUSTIN, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' baseball team fell 9-1 to Concordia in the first game of a three-game American Southwest Conference series on Friday night in Austin.
The Tornados scored a run in the second and two more in the fourth and one in the fifth to take a 4-0 lead. They broke the game open with four runs in the sixth inning.
HSU scored its lone run in the eighth inning on a
Jett Forrest RBI single.
Wyatt Tumlinson took the loss on the mound, falling to 2-4. He allowed three runs on seven hits in three and one-third innings.
Brandon Bane,
Alex Carte and
Caleb Robbins all worked out of the bullpen.
Luke Kirkbride, Forrestt and
Gannon Azios each had two hits for the Cowboys.
HSU is now 7-13 overall and 2-5 in league play. Concordia improved to 11-10 overall and 3-7 in conference action. The teams will play a noon doubleheader on Saturday.
