ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy tennis team swept the Willamette University Bearcats 9-0 on Thursday afternoon at the Streich Tennis Center in Abilene.
 
The Cowboys completed the sweep with three wins in doubles and six in singles competition.
 
Luke Cantu and Justus Petersilie took down the first Bearcat doubles team of Kabacy and Nigbur 8-5.
 
Zach Fowler and Payne Smith got another Cowboy win 8-3 against the doubles team of Avansino and Olander.
 
Brandon Curiel and Jordan Oberbillig won 8-2 playing the third doubles match against Lief and Casano.
 
Petersilie took the ace singles match 6-4, 6-3 for the Cowboys against Kabacy. Cantu won 6-1, 6-1 in the second singles match against Mladenovic.
 
Fowler got another Cowboy win 6-1, 6-3 playing Nigbur in the third singles match. Smith won 6-1, 6-4 in the fourth singles match against Avansino.
 
Curiel had a Cowboy win 6-0, 6-1 against Olander in the fifth game and Oberbillig finished off Lief 6-0, 6-1 for Hardin-Simmons.
 
The Cowboys improve to 5-7 on the year with the win over the Bearcats and will host McMurry on Friday beginning at 10 a.m.
