ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl tennis team beat the McMurry War Hawks 8-1 in American Southwest Conference play on Friday at the Streich Tennis Center.
The Cowgirls took all three doubles contests and six singles matches against their McMurry opponents.
Laurel Coleman and
Jonnah Smith led off doubles for the Cowgirls with an 8-2 win against Fly and Vincent.
Brenna Gordon and
Addyson Tylaska won 8-1 over the second doubles team of Bencomo and Connally.
Christa Bennett and
Halle Smith won the third Cowgirl doubles match of the day with an 8-6 defeat of Carroll and Mason.
Coleman won a tight first set of the first singles match 7-5 and went 6-1 to finish the Cowgirl win against Fly.
Jonnah Smith won the second singles match against the War Hawks 6-2, 6-3 facing off with Vincent.
Gordon split and came back to win the third singles flight 5-7, 6-2, 1-0 (10-1) playing Bencomo.
Triniti McBride won the fourth singles match 6-4, 6-1 against Carroll.
Bennett won the fifth singles match against Connally by a score of 6-4, 6-1 for Hardin-Simmons.
The Cowgirls improve to 8-6 on the season and start ASC play 1-0. The Cowgirls will travel to Southwestern to play in Georgetown on April 5.
