ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' head football coach
Jesse Burleson has released the 2024 schedule after the conference slate was approved late last week.
"It's a different look with the new conference schedule," said Burleson. "Filling four games is a huge challenge but we were able to get it lined up a lot sooner than last year. It will be nice to play a couple of teams for the first time ever and then we still have the Crosstown game and then Endicott returns the trip from us going up there last year."
The Cowboys will open the season on Sept. 7 at home against Howard Payne before taking another trip to the Northeast to play Curry College in Milton, Mass on Sept. 14. After an off week, the Cowboys return home to play North American University from Houston.
On Oct. 5, the Cowboys will host Endicott College. Next will be two straight games on the road at Mary Hardin-Baylor and at McMurry. HSU then is home for three straight weeks against East Texas Baptist, Howard Payne and Mary Hardin-Baylor on Oct. 25, Nov. 2 and Nov. 9. The ETBU game on Oct. 26 will be the homecoming game.
HSU will close the season on the road at East Texas Baptist.
The ASC teams will play each other twice in the 2024 season, with the departure of Texas Lutheran, Southwestern and McMurry. Game times will be set in the near future.
The Cowboys are coming off a 9-2 season where they won the American Southwest Conference title and advanced to the NCAA playoffs.
