ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy tennis team defeated the Mary Hardin-Baylor Cru 6-3 in American Southwest Conference play on Friday at the Streich Tennis Center.
 
The Cowboys won one doubles match and five singles flights to take the game 6-3 over UMHB.
 
Zach Fowler and Payne Smith won 8-3 against the second doubles team of White and Hornbeck.
 
Justus Petersilie won a split set 6-3, 7-5, 6-1 playing Fernandes of UMHB in the first singles flight.
 
Fowler won another split set for the Cowboys coming back 6-7, 6-3, 6-4 to win against White in the third match.
 
Smith defeated Cusano in another Cowboy split set singles match 5-7, 6-1, 6-1. Brandon Curiel went to tiebreakers to defeat Gonzales 7-6, 7-6 and Jordan Oberbillig won yet another split set match 3-6, 6-2, 6-3.
 
The Cowboys improve to 7-9 on the year and 2-1 in the ASC and will host A&M Texarkana at the Streich Tennis Center at 10 a.m. Saturday and UTD at 3 p.m.
