ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl softball team grabbed the series against McMurry with two wins on Friday in American Southwest Conference play on the south side of Abilene.
The Cowgirls won game one 3-2 and won game two 2-1 over the War Hawks and will finish the series at noon on Saturday at McMurry.
The Cowgirls scored three runs on five hits in game one.
Haley Henson singled home
Minely Avila to start the scoring in the third inning and
Madison Mayhew finished the inning with a bases-loaded single for two RBIs and a 3-0 Cowgirl lead.

Haven Williams and reliever
Aubrianna Salazar combined for seven innings and held the War Hawks to two runs in the win for Williams with one strikeout. Salazar finished with three innings and just one hit allowed with a pair of strikeouts in the save.
The Cowgirls had five hits in game two with two runs and one error in the 2-1 victory.
Jorey Hood took the circle to start and faced three over the minimum with two hits and a walk in four innings with two strikeouts thrown in the win.
Kelly Shackelford threw an inning with a strikeout and
Kylie Ruiz finished with the save on a strikeout in two innings for Hardin-Simmons.
Lindsey Ratcliffe had the opening RBI for the Cowgirls on a double in the second inning to score
Emily Jacobs from second and lead 1-0. Mayhew knocked in another Cowgirl RBI to make it 2-0 Cowgirls in the third.
Hardin-Simmons brought home the win in game two 2-1 at McMurry and took the series with a game to go Saturday.
The Cowgirls are 24-9 and 13-7 after two wins at McMurry Friday and will finish the three-game ASC series on Saturday at 12 noon.
