ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' softball team fell to McMurry 5-4 in eight innings on Saturday at Edwards Field in American Southwest Conference action.
The Cowgirls scored first on the back end of a double steal with
Ashley Easley coming home. Miranda Soileau had an RBI single in the fourth inning and another run scored on an error to give McMurry a 2-1 lead in the fourth.
Easley added an RBI single in the sixth to tie the game.
Ella Salinas homered in the eighth inning and
Lindsey Ratcliffe had an RBI single to give the Cowgirls a 4-2 lead.
Soileau hit a three-run walkoff home run in the bottom of the eighth inning for the War Hawks.
Jorey Hood started and went three scoreless innings with four strikeouts.
Aubrianna Salazar worked an inning and
Haven Williams fell to 12-5 with the loss as she allowed three runs on four hits in three and one-third innings.
Emily Gebhart worked six innings and allowed two runs on seven hits. Jenna Lewis went two innings allowing two runs but picked up the win in relief to improve to 13-5.
Salinas and Ratcliffe each had two hits for the Cowgirls. Soileau had three hits and drove in four runs for the War Hawks.
The Cowgirls are now 24-10 and 13-8 in American Southwest Conference action, HSU will conclude the regular season next weekend at UT Dallas. McMurry is now 22-12 overall and 12-9 in league play.
