RICHARDSON, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl softball team dropped the third game and with it the series at UT-Dallas, falling 4-1 in American Southwest Conference play on Saturday.
The Cowgirls had one run on six hits and three errors. UTD scored four runs on six hits and had one error in the win.
UTD took the lead in the third 1-0 and the Cowgirls tied the game with a
Madison Mayhew pinch-hit RBI-single in the fifth to make it 1-1.
The Comets ended with three more runs in the sixth to take the game 4-1 over Hardin-Simmons.
Haley Henson drew two walks and had two steals for the Cowgirls on offense.
Haven Williams was the starting pitcher for HSU and threw four innings with a strikeout.
Kylie Ruiz threw an inning with a strikeout and had the loss and
Aubrianna Salazar had one inning with two strikeouts.
The Cowgirls end the regular season 25-12 and 14-10 in the ASC and will await the other ASC schools wrapping up series late this weekend for weather to determine who the Cowgirls will face in the first round of the ASC Tournament in Marshall on Thursday.
