ROME, Ga. – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl volleyball team swept the Sewanee Tigers 3-0 on Saturday morning playing in the Berry College Invitational in Georgia.
The Cowgirls had a quick turnaround after a late-night win in five sets over No. 12 Berry College on Friday.
Hardin-Simmons came out early and hit .367 in the first set, taking it 25-11 over Sewanee. The Cowgirls finished the sweep with sets of 25-15 and 25-23 in the win.
Liz Underwood led the Cowgirls with 12 kills against the Tigers.
Ali Meyer had the team lead in assists with 21 while
Keatyn Rodgers added 13 assists for HSU.
Meyer and
Leigh Jespersen each had nine digs to lead the Cowgirls in the sweep.
The Cowgirls leave the Berry College Invitational with a record of 2-1 to start the year and will travel to Marshall, Texas beginning Sept. 6 at 11 a.m. to play the University of St. Thomas followed by Willamette at 7 p.m. before a match with Huntingdon on Saturday morning.
