LONGVIEW, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy soccer team won big on Thursday night at LeTourneau, winning 4-0 in the American Southwest Conference opener on the road.
James Webb opened for the Cowboys with his second goal of the season in the seventh minute for what would be the game-winner in the shutout win for HSU.
Brandon Krohn and
Thomas Saylae assisted on the Webb goal.
Mama Sissen had a wonderful night watching both of her sons score for the Cowboys in the second half.
Jack Sissen scored his first goal of the year in the 51
st minute and
J.J. Sissen also scored his first goal for the Cowboys in the 60
th minute for a 3-0 lead.
Jakob Fiol and Krohn assisted on the Sissen-twin goals, respectively, including Krohn's second assist of the night at LeTourneau.
Liam Cisneros added the final touch with a goal in the 79
th minute to finish the game 4-0 for Hardin-Simmons. It was Cisneros' first goal of 2024 as well.
The Cowboys out-shot Letourneau 19-10 with nine shots on goal for HSU and three allowed. The Cowboys had five corner kicks to four from the Yellowjackets.
Carson Null started at goalkeeper for HSU and had three saves in the shutout performance in full time.
The Cowboys improve to 5-2-1 on the season and most importantly 1-0 in ASC play and will head to Marshall to take on ETBU Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
