LONGVIEW, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl basketball team bounced back with an 84-67 win over LeTourneau in American Southwest Conference play.
Hardin-Simmons ended the first quarter knotted at 20-20 with the Yellowjackets and pushed out to lead 42-32 heading into halftime.
The Cowgirls outscored LETU 27-17 in the third quarter to lead 69-49 and finished the win 84-67 on the road in ASC play.
Jacqueline Berry finished with 20 points and seven rebounds to lead the Cowgirls in both categories. She shot 8-16 from the floor.
Madison Williams scored 12 points and had a season-high seven assists against LeTourneau.
Freshman Jayda Mitchel scored a career-high 11 points, sinking three shots from beyond the arc for HSU.
Aiken Semones also made three shots from deep and finished with 10 points on Saturday.
The Cowgirls shot 34% in the ballgame and had 52 rebounds to 41 by LeTourneau. HSU forced 26 Yellowjacket turnovers and only committed 13 turnovers in the win.
The Cowgirls bounce back and improve to 15-2 and 1-1 in the American Southwest Conference and will play at Howard Payne next Thursday night at 5:30 p.m. in Brownwood.
