ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' men's basketball team saw its six-game winning streak come to an end with an 83-80 overtime loss to UT Dallas on Thursday evening at the Mabee Complex.
The Cowboys jumped out to a 15-5 lead and pushed the lead to 35-15 with 2:46 to play in the first half and led 40-20 at halftime.
HSU led 44-22 with 18:46 to play. The Comets then started chipping away. The Cowboys led 58-46 with 9:56 to play, but a 19-3 run by the Comets gave UTD their first lead of the second half.
Chris Bryant tied the game at 67 with a pair of free throws with :53 to play. Austin Page scored for UTD and Bryant tied the game with a layup with :08 to play to send the game to overtime.
Peyton Dulin hit a 3-pointer with :33 to play to give the Comets an 80-75 lead.
Cooper Peterson answered with a 3-pointer and the Cowboys got the ball back and Peterson was fouled on a 3-pointer. He made the first two but missed the third. Page hit two more free throws and the Comets fouled.
Silas Livingston missed the first and then intentionally missed the second and HSU got a Peterson 3-point attempt to tie the game but it came up short.

Silas Livingston had 11 points each and
Silas Davis scored 10 points.
Austin Page led UTD with 20 points, Matthew Soto had 17 points and Zach Spitzer had 11 points and 11 rebounds.
The Cowboys are now 10-9 on the year and UTD improved to 13-7. The game did not count in the ASC standings as UTD is reclassifying to Division II.
HSU will host Mary Hardin-Baylor in a key American Southwest Conference game on Saturday at 3 p.m.
