ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' volleyball got the win with a decisive 3-0 sweep over Sul Ross State out of the Division II Lone Star Conference on Wednesday evening inside the Mabee Complex. The Cowgirls improved to 14-8 overall with set scores of 25-19, 25-15, and 25-13.
Hardin-Simmons hit an impressive .314 as a team, recording 45 kills and 12 service aces while holding Sul Ross State to a .175 attack percentage.
Abbi Allen,
Jadyn Hernandez, and
Leigh Jespersen led a balanced offensive effort with eight kills apiece. Allen also contributed three blocks and 10 total points, while Hernandez posted a .467 hitting percentage with four block assists. Jespersen added seven digs and two block assists for 10 points.
Gabby Jones followed with seven kills and three blocks, and
Liz Keidl matched her with seven kills of her own.
Keatyn Rodgers paced the offense with 19 assists, two aces, and five digs, while
Allison O'Shaughnessy added 16 assists and four service aces.
Kat Martinez anchored the back row with a team-high 14 digs and three aces.
The Cowgirls limited Sul Ross State to 30 total kills, forcing 13 errors including eight Cowgirl blocks.
Hardin-Simmons returns to action on Tuesday, November 4 for Cowgirl volleyball senior day before the match at 6 p.m. against McMurry in the Mabee Athletic Complex.
