MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl basketball team locked down the Rhodes College Lynx 81-50 for the win to cap the road trip to Memphis with dominant defense in the win.
The Cowgirls held Rhodes to only three made baskets and outscored the opponent 26-8. Hardin-Simmons led at the half 42-23 and only allowed six points in the third quarter to lead 67-29 heading before the 81-50 win on the road.
The Cowgirls had three in double-figures.
Jacqueline Berry and
Avery Cathey scored 14 points each for Hardin-Simmons. Berry shot 6-11 and Cathey hit four 3-pointers shooting 5-7 overall.
Dylan Koele scored 13 points shooting 4-7 in the game against Rhodes.
Hardin-Simmons led with 44 rebounds to 30 rebounds by Rhodes and kept the home team shooting 16-51 in the game for just under 32 percent.
The Cowgirls improve to 3-1 on the year and will return to the Mabee Athletic Complex to take on the Trinity Tigers on Nov. 21 starting at 6 p.m.
