ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl soccer team will play Howard Payne in the 2025 American Southwest Conference women's soccer championship tournament semifinal match on Thursday, Nov. 6 with kickoff at 10 a.m. in Belton, Texas hosted by Mary Hardin-Baylor.
The Cowgirls wrapped the regular season with a win over UMHB 1-0 at home thanks to a blocked PK from
Abigail Medlin and a game-winning goal from
Lexi Templin in the final minutes.
Hardin-Simmons is 9-3-2 on the season and 4-2 in ASC play under head coach
Rusty Oglesby in 2025. The Cowgirls have seven shutouts and are scoring 2.29 goals a match, while holding opponents to .71 goals a match.
The Cowgirls are led on offense by
Tatum Barnett with six goals,
Taylor Koch with five goals,
Belle Floyd and
Lexi Templin with four goals apiece, and
Presleigh Thiessen and
Abbey Dugan with three goals each. Senior Cowgirl keeper Medlin has only allowed five goals in 966 minutes for HSU this season, and the Cowgirls as a team have only allowed ten goals in 14 games.
Hardin-Simmons will start the ASC championship tournament on Thursday, Nov. 6 at 10 a.m. against Howard Payne in the No. 2 seed versus No. 3 seed game. The winner will play the winner of the No. 1 seed UMHB versus No. 4 seed ETBU game, scheduled for 4 p.m. Thursday.
The championship will be on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 4 p.m. in Belton. All games will be played at host school Mary Hardin-Baylor.
