ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy basketball team took care of the Arlington Baptist Patriots with a big win 98-66 on Monday night at the Mabee Athletic Complex, with a career-high 31 points scored by junior Chirs Bryant.
Bryant had a previous career high last Friday at LeTourneau with 29 points in the Cowboy win. He is averaging 16.5 points a game through 12 games in his third season at Hardin-Simmons after dropping 31 points on Monday.
The Cowboys started strong and led the whole way against the Patriots in the win, leading 48-33 at the half. They outscored the opponent 50-33 in the second half for a 98-66 victory over Arlington Baptist.
Hardin-Simmons shot 36-65 for 55 percent in the game and had 41 rebounds in the contest. Four Cowboys scored double-figures, including
Myles Amason with 13 points, and
Matthew Alexander and
Tyler Williams scoring 12 points each in the win to go with Bryant's 31 points. Amason led the team with 12 rebounds for a double-double in the win.
Head coach
Matt Brackett and the Cowboys are now 7-5 after winning the last three games. HSU will travel to Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas to play in the Leslie Robinson Classic on Dec. 20-21, beginning with a game against the Wisconsin-Steven's Point Pointers on Saturday at 5 p.m. before wrapping up with a game against Saint John's University on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
