BELTON, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl basketball team went down to the Mary Hardin-Baylor Crusaders 75-60 on the road Thursday night in American Southwest Conference play.
Hardin-Simmons ended the first quarter tied 14-14 with UMHB and led to start the second quarter before falling behind 31-23 at the half.
The Crusaders shot 61 percent in the third quarter to add to the lead, heading into the fourth quarter up 58-36.
The Cowgirls outscored UMHB in the final frame but could only cut into the lead as they dropped 75-60 in Belton on Thursday night.
Jacqueline Berry led the Cowgirls with 17 points Thursday. She shot 7-16 for the Cowgirls and is averaging more than 13 points a game as a freshman.
Madison Williams is also averaging 13 points a game this season and hit her average against UMHB with 13 points on 4-9 shooting from the field.
Aiken Semones finished with 11 points with nine points off 3-pointers.
Kynnan Shields finished with 14 rebounds to lead the night and was just shy of a double-double with nine points.
The Cowgirls drop to 18-6 on the season and 4-4 in the conference with the final game of the regular season at UT-Dallas on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Richardson.
