ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy tennis team defeated the Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles 6-1 in a dual match on Saturday at the Streich Tennis Center.
The Cowboys took the doubles point in a sweep with wins at all three flights.
Zach Fowler and
Paxton O'Shea won 6-2 in the first doubles match.
Brandon Curiel and
Payne Smith won the second doubles match 7-6(7-2) in a tiebreak.
Nick Boquet and
Maddux Foster finished up at three doubles winning 6-2 over OKWU.
Smith won the first singles match 6-1, 6-2 against Hoyte. Fowler finished the third singles win 6-0, 6-4 playing Espinal.
Curiel won a split fourth singles match 6-3, 4-6, 7-6(7-5) against Callahan. Foster finished the fifth singles with a win 6-2, 6-3 playing Harrison.
Jordan Oberbillig ended the Cowboy win at six singles, going up in straight sets 6-0, 6-0.
Hardin-Simmons notches a win to go to 1-3 on the season. The Cowboys will host McMurry on Feb. 28 starting at 10 a.m. at the Streich Tennis Center.
