ARLINGTON, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy tennis team defeated the LeTourneau Yellowjackets 7-0 in a dual match in American Southwest Conference play to improve to 3-0 on Thursday afternoon.
HSU won two of the three doubles matches to start the day.
Zach Fowler and
Paxton O'Shea won 6-2 in the first flight and the team of
Nick Boquet and
Jameson Sorrell won the third flight of doubles 6-4.
Payne Smith won the first singles match for Hardin-Simmons with a tiebreaker first set 7-6(7-5), 6-1.
Boquet took the second singles match in a split, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 and Fowler won the third singles match in a tiebreaker set 7-6(7-4), 6-2.
Brandon Curiel won the Cowboy fourth singles match 6-1, 6-1 and O'Shea defeated LeTourneau in the fifth singles match 6-4, 6-2.
Maddux Foster got the final win in the sixth singles match 6-0, 6-4.
The Cowboys improved to 5-6 and 3-0 in the ASC and will play at home on Friday against UTPB starting at 2 p.m. at the Streich Tennis Center.
