ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy and Cowgirl tennis teams swept Schreiner 7-0 on Saturday, and the men earned head coach
Shane Williford his 200
th career men's tennis win.
Coach Williford has now captured 200 wins each in men's and women's tennis while at Hardin-Simmons.
The Cowboys took two of the three doubles matches against Schreiner with wins from
Brandon Curiel and
Payne Smith in the first flight and
Maddux Foster and
Paxton O'Shea in the third flight doubles.
Smith won at the one singles match, and
Nick Boquet took the win in the two singles match for the Cowboys.
Curiel defeated Schreiner with a sweep in the three singles match, and Foster won the four singles match.
Jordan Oberbillig won at five singles and
Gavin Hail finished the day at six singles with a Cowboy win for the sweep.
The Cowgirls also swept Schreiner with a 7-0 win on Saturday and took all doubles and singles matches.
HSU took the women's doubles in order with the teams of
Laurel Coleman and
Jonnah Smith,
Taylor Levy and
Sydney Tomlin, and
Halle Smith and
Addyson Tylaska at one, two, and three doubles, respectively.
Coleman took down the Schriener ace singles player and J. Smith won at two singles for the Cowgirls.
Tomlin played and won three singles and Levy won a split set over Schreiner at four singles.
Emma Curiel and
Triniti McBride both didn't allow a point to Schriener in the five and six singles match wins for the Cowgirls.
The Cowboys improve to 6-7 and the Cowgirls go to 6-6 on the season and coach Williford looks forward to the next milestones after his 200
th men's tennis win on Saturday. Hardin-Simmons has the Cowgirls scheduled to travel to play Lewis & Clark on March 27 and the Cowboys playing Averett on April 3.
