BELTON, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy tennis team finished the regular season with a 5-2 win over Mary Hardin-Baylor, clinching the American Southwest Conference regular season title and the right to host the ASC Championship Tournament next week.
The Cowboys led with two doubles wins for the point.
Zach Fowler and
Paxton O'Shea took down the first doubles win 6-2.
Payne Smith and Jameson Sorrel won the second doubles match 6-3 over UMHB.
Smith won the first singles match 6-1, 6-3 playing against Fernandes. Smith finished ASC play undefeated in the ace singles hole in four matches.
Nick Boquet won the Cowboy second singles match 6-4, 6-2. He defeated Sam of UMHB.
Fowler won the third singles match 6-1, 6-3 for the Cowboys, taking down Torres. O'Shea finished with a split set win 4-6, 7-5, 1-0(10-4) in the fifth singles match against Cusano.
The Cowboys finish ASC play with a 4-0 record to claim the regular season title and will host the American Southwest Conference men's tennis championship tournament beginning April 24 at the Streich Tennis Center in Abilene.
