ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy tennis team defeated the LeTourneau YellowJackets 4-1 in the 2025 American Southwest Conference championship tournament semifinals on Friday afternoon at the Streich Tennis Center.
The Cowboys clocked two quick wins in doubles to secure the early point.
Payne Smith and
Jameson Sorrell defeated Maldonado and Reiman 6-1 and
Brandon Curiel and
Nick Boquet won 6-1 against Black and Harry.
Playing to clinch, the Cowboys took three of the four singles matches that finished for the 4-1 win. Curiel was the first to win, 6-0, 6-1 against Wedge in the fourth singles flight.
Paxton O'Shea won the third Cowboy point in the fifth singles flight. He defeated Maldonado 6-1, 6-2 to lead 3-1.

Zach Fowler brought home the match with the clinch, winning the third singles flight. He won 6-1 and came back for three straight games for the 6-4 second set to give HSU the 4-1 win.
Hardin-Simmons wins the ASC tournament semifinal and will match up against East Texas Baptist in the ASC championship on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Cowboys took the regular season match 4-3 over ETBU back in March.
