ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy soccer team bounced back to win 4-2 against the Centenary College Gents on Thursday night at the HSU Soccer Complex.
Hardin-Simmons trailed after a goal from Centenary in the 15
th minute to take a 1-0 lead.
Benny Lube scored on a cut in the face of the keeper to tie the game in the 19
th minute, assisted by
James Webb.
Lube returned the favor on a corner curved to Webb, who finished it down and away for the second Cowboy goal to lead 2-1 in the 24
th minute.
In the second half, Hardin-Simmons had a ball flicked up to
Omar Estrada who scored in the 68
th minute with a
Korbin Raef assist. Raef received a ball alone at the back post for the fourth Cowboy goal in the 70
th minute with a C.J. Munjoma assist.
Centenary scored late and the Cowboys won 4-2 on Thursday night. HSU shot 19 times with nine on goal and Centenary shot 14 time with seven on goal. The Gents led the corner kick margin with 8-6.
Griffin Cardwell started and went the whole game in goal for Hardin-Simmons with five saves in the Cowboy win.
The Cowboys improved to 3-3 and will take the rest of the weekend off before hosting Trinity on September 18
th at 7:30 p.m. at the HSU Soccer Complex.
