SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl soccer team fell 2-1 late against the Trinity Tigers on the road in San Antonio on Friday night.
The Cowgirls held the momentum in the first half and finished off with a goal in the 45
th minute by
Maeve Connerty, her second of the season, with assists from
Nicole Young and
Savannah Ruiz.
The Cowgirls started the second half up 1-0 and held that lead until an equalizer from Trinity in the 62
nd minute from Alex Doran. The Tigers capitalized on a rebound off the post and scored another goal soon after in the 65
th minute to surpass HSU 2-1.
The Cowgirls managed a handful of promising attacks in the remainder of the match, but fell by a final score of 2-1 at Trinity.
HSU shot five times with three shots on goal and took five corner kicks. Trinity shot 22 times and finished with 11 shots on goal and six corner kicks.
Abigail Medlin totaled nine saves in a tough night out in the loss for the Cowgirls at goalkeeper playing the full 90 minutes.
Hardin-Simmons fell to 2-1-2 after dropping the match at Trinity and will travel to play Southwestern Texas on Sunday morning at 11 a.m. in Georgetown to end the road trip.
