ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' held down the win 1-0 against the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs after an opening minute goal by
Belle Floyd to decide the game on Saturday at the HSU Soccer Complex.
The Cowgirls went to 5-1-2 on the season with the win Saturday after
Belle Floyd finished a ball in from
Tatum Barnett in the first minute to go up 1-0 on TLU. The Cowgirls defended well for the following 89 minutes for the 1-0 victory.
The only lackadaisical part of the Cowgirl win Saturday was the score, with Hardin-Simmons putting out 25 shots and seven shots on goal. Texas Lutheran took 17 shots and actually put more shots on goal with nine in the game.
Abigail Medlin finished with only eight saves, but added a dozen other great plays coming out on service balls and the like to deny the Bulldogs shot opportunities. She finished with the shutout win in the full 90 minutes of a very active night for the HSU keeper.
The Cowgirls were able to get the win with a full team effort, playing 22 different Cowgirls on Saturday, including five different freshmen players.
The Cowgirls improved to 5-1-2 on the season and will play on September 27 against ETBU to open ASC play at 7:30 p.m. at the HSU Soccer Complex in Abilene.
