ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl soccer team defeated the McMurry War Hawks 2-0 with two goals scored by
Taylor Koch on Thursday night at the HSU Soccer Complex.
Presleigh Thiessen ripped her way down the outside of the defense to cross a ball in off Koch for the game-winner in the 21
st minute of the game.
Koch scored again on a run after a one-two ball from
Tatum Barnett and
Savannah Ruiz led her to a goal banked in for the 2-0 Cowgirl lead in the 81
st minute.
Hardin-Simmons shot 27 times with nine shots on goal and McMurry finished with 11 shots and eight shots on goal. The Cowgirls took five corner kicks and the War Hawks took two corners.
Abigail Medlin started in goal for the Cowgirls and went the distance in the shutout, collecting seven saves in the win.
The Cowgirls improved to 2-1 over McMurry and will travel to Ohio this weekend to take on Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday with kickoff at 6 p.m.
