Four Cowboys Earn All-American Status

ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' football team had four players named to various All-American football teams that have trickled out over the last several weeks.

Hayden Philpot was a consensus All-American. He was named first-team by the Walter Camp Football Foundation, second-team by the American Football Coaches Association and the Associated Press and third team by D3football.com. He was also named to the Dave Campbell All-Texas team.  

Philpot was a senior center for the Cowboys from Decatur. He played in 42 career games and started 31 for the Cowboys. He was also the ASC offensive lineman of the year.

Kaiden Roden earned second-team All-American honors by the Associated Press and D3football.com and was named to the Dave Campbell's All-Texas team.
Roden is a junior linebacker from Quinlan. He was the ASC defensive player of the year and led the Cowboys in tackles.

Senior running back Noah Garcia was named Associated Press second-team All-American as an all-purpose back. The senior from Abilene Cooper had the best all-purpose season in Cowboy history with 1,953 yards and he scored 19 touchdowns.

Junior safety Harrison Foster was named second-team All-American by the Associated Press. He led the Cowboys' secondary with 78 tackles, forced a pair of fumbles and returned both of his interceptions for touchdowns.

The Cowboys went 9-2 and won the American Southwest Conference for the third straight season. HSU finished the year ranked No. 19 by the AFCA and No. 20 by D3football.com in their polls released on Monday.
