Box Score ABILENE, Texas – Ninth-ranked Hardin-Simmons scored on its first three possessions and never looked back, rolling to a 58-0 victory over Fort Lauderdale on Saturday afternoon at Shelton Stadium.
The Cowboys improved to 3-0 on the season behind a balanced offensive attack that produced 523 yards of total offense while the defense limited Fort Lauderdale to 132 total yards and recorded four sacks.
Quarterback
Ty Thompson accounted for four touchdowns, throwing for 183 yards and three scores while adding 101 rushing yards and a 51-yard touchdown run. He completed 12 of 23 passes and helped Hardin-Simmons score on eight of its first nine possessions.
Hardin-Simmons seized control immediately. Thompson connected with
Harison Brockway on a 15-yard touchdown pass less than two minutes into the game before finding
Jairdyn Anderson for scoring strikes of 40 and 5 yards later in the opening quarter.
Pedro Altamirano added a 42-yard field goal as the Cowboys built a 24-0 lead after one quarter.Game Book
Altamirano connected on field goals from 31 and 22 yards in the second quarter, sending Hardin-Simmons into halftime with a 30-0 advantage.
The Cowboys continued to dominate after the break. Jerrion Hall scored on a 5-yard run midway through the third quarter before Thompson broke free for a 51-yard touchdown run to extend the lead to 44-0.
Aidan Rios added a 3-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter, and
Tory Brooks capped the scoring with a 5-yard touchdown run with 1:09 remaining.
Anderson led the receiving corps with five catches for 98 yards and two touchdowns, while Brockway caught three passes for 31 yards and a score. On the ground, Brooks rushed for 73 yards and a touchdown,
Cayden Jones added 58 yards, and Hall chipped in 39 yards and a score as Hardin-Simmons piled up 340 rushing yards.
Defensively, the Cowboys were dominant throughout.
Harrison Foster and
Kaiden Roden shared the team lead with nine tackles apiece.

Fort Lauderdale was led by quarterback Koden Brown, who completed 17 of 31 passes for 102 yards. Davidson Loriston caught five passes for 11 yards, while Siddiq Jackson led the visitors with 30 rushing yards.
HSU will return to action next Saturday when it plays at McMurry in the Wilford Moore Trophy game at 1 p.m.
