AUSTIN, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl softball team won two games at Huston-Tillotson on Tuesday with wins of 14-1 and 16-3, including a Cowgirl team record 24 hits and 11 stolen bases in game two down in Austin.
Gabby Montanez started her first game for the year pitching for the Cowgirls and went 3.2 innings with three hits and one run allowed with two strikeouts.
Hannah Aaron came in to pitch in relief and had 1.1 innings for HSU with a strikeout and no hits allowed.
Outside of the great pitching, the Cowgirls had a monster day on offense with 20 hits and 14 runs scored in game one against the Rams.
Kinzley Cantu,
Ella Salinas, and
Addyson Kahklen all had three hits in the game for the Cowgirls. Salinas led with four RBIs, while Kahklen netted three RBIs, and
Kinzley Cantu and
Madi Hubbard etched in two more RBIs each.
Grace Thompson, Hubbard,
Erin Love, and
Ava Dennis each had multi-hit games for Hardin-Simmons as well.
Jazlynn Cantu, Dennis, and Love each added an RBI for the Cowgirls, Love with a solo home run in the fourth inning.
Game two was much of the same for the Cowgirls, ending with 16 runs on a program record 24 hits in the game. The previous record was 23 hits at Ozarks in 2020. Freshman
Alyssa Lusk went 5-for-5 from the plate with four RBIs and stole two bases.
Abby Seitzinger had three hits with two doubles and two RBIs.

Abbey Tarr each had multi-hit games against Huston-Tillotson in game two.

Aubrey Madrid from Weatherford all had an RBI to add to those from Lusk and Seitzinger in the big win.
Hardin-Simmons also broke the team record for steals in a game with 11 stolen bases at Huston-Tillotson. The previous record was ten stolen bases against Schreiner in 2025. Chapman, Lusk, and
Kinzley Cantu had two steals each, and Jacobs, Knott, Miller, Dennis, and
Abbey Tarr each added a stolen base.
Akaysia Grogan wrapped the afternoon up for the Cowgirls in Austin with 4.1 innings pitched and two strikeouts, only allowing two runs on two hits for the Rams in the win.
Bree Battenfelder, a freshman pitcher from Midland Senior, threw 1.2 innings in relief and had a strikeout.
The Cowgirls are now 2-2 on the season after the record day Tuesday afternoon. HSU softball will return to Abilene to play at McMurry on Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 5 p.m. before traveling to Jackson, Miss. For games at Belhaven beginning Feb. 20.
