AUSTIN, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy tennis team defeated the Concordia Texas Tornados 5-2 on Saturday afternoon at the River Place Country Club of Austin.
HSU won the doubles point with wins from
Gabriel Harris and
Payne Smith 7-7 in the first flight and the team of
Brandon Curiel and
Pedro Rozani 7-5 in the third flight.
Smith won the ace singles match for Hardin-Simmons 6-2, 6-0 playing Daniel Beckles.
Harris went on to win the third singles flight match 6-0, 6-3, defeating Kade Talbot.
Curiel also won at the fourth flight singles match for the Cowboys, going up 6-0, 6-2 against Diego Garcia.
Phoenix Davis got another Cowboy win at the fifth flight singles match, coming back to win 6-3, 1-0(10-8), winning over Rowan Daniell of Concordia.
The Cowboys improved to 3-1 on the season and will play at Southwestern in Georgetown, Texas on Sunday morning at 9 a.m.
