BROWNWOOD, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy basketball team finished up their sixth win in a row at Howard Payne on Thursday, winning 83-68 in American Southwest Conference play.
Hardin-Simmons led 41-35 at the half. After Howard Payne rallied midway through the second half, the Cowboys finished off the game with a 23-6 run to take home the 15-point win.
HSU has now won the last six games, with the final three of the regular season, coming up with two against UMHB and the last game at ETBU on Feb. 21.
Hardin-Simmons got a handful of scorers in double-digits.
Tyler Williams led with 17 points, while
Matthew Alexander and
Asher Fleming scored 15 points, and
Myles Amason came away with 12 points.
Amason finished with three blocks for the Cowboy defense and Williams and Alexander got four steals each for Hardin-Simmons.
With the win Thursday, the Cowboys improved to 14-8 and lead the ASC at 3-0 midway through heading into the final stretch. The next Cowboy basketball game will be on Tuesday, Feb. 10 at Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas.
