ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl tennis team played three matches split across Abilene on Saturday, dropping two matches to Lubbock Christian and UT Permian Basin, and winning against McMurry in a road match.
Hardin-Simmons took down McMurry 7-0, with four wins against unfortunately a team of three for the War Hawks.
Allie Dunn and
Allison Goggans won 6-4 at doubles, Dunn won first flight singles 0-6, 7-5, 10-0,
Allison Goggans won second singles 6-2, 6-0, and
Kasey Fitzer won three singles 6-0, 6-0.
The Cowgirls dropped two matches at the Streich Tennis Center, 7-0 to LCU and 6-1 to UTPB, both Division II caliber opponents.
Taylor Levy and
Addyson Tylaska won second flight doubles against LCU 6-3. Levy also took a set in the fifth-flight singles loss 4-6, 6-1, 7-10 in a tiebreaker.
Abigail Diamond won the Cowgirl sixth flight singles match against UT Permian Basin, 6-1, 1-6, 10-7, in another tiebreaker.
The Cowgirls move to a record of 5-8 on the year and will host Mary Hardin-Baylor for the first American Southwest Conference match of the year on March 28 at the Streich Tennis Center at 2 p.m.
