KERRVILLE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' baseball team continued its offensive surge with a 17-3 win over Schreiner on Tuesday afternoon at Bob Henry Field in Kerrville.
The Cowboys have scored 57 runs in the last three games and improved to 16-9 on the year. It is the best mark through 25 games since 2011, when the Cowboys won a Division III best 31 games.
HSU jumped on the board with a four-run second inning.
Benji Fielder had a two-run single,
Brock Calvillo had an RBI groundout and
Catcher Ridings had an RBI single.
Cannon Negron had an RBI single and another run scored on an error in the third. HSU scored a pair of runs in the fourth on a
Hunter Trojacek bases-loaded walk and another run scored on a throwing error by the catcher on a stolen base attempt. The same thing happened again in the fifth to make in 9-0.
Justin Blancaflor had RBI singles in the sixth, eighth and ninth innings.
Gavin Bruning added an RBI single and
Paul Samaripa had a sacrifice fly.
Caleb Reynolds continued his strong run of pitching as he went five innings allowing just four hits and no runs with six strikeouts to improve to 5-2 on the year.

Ian Bamburg worked out of the bullpen.
Blancaflor led the 21-hit attack with five hits and he drove in three runs. Ridings had four hits.
Jake Herb, the first of seven pitchers of the day, took the loss allowing four runs on five hits. Ian Ruggerio led the Mountaineers with two hits.
Schreiner fell to 11-17 on the year. HSU returns to action on April 9 when it hosts East Texas Baptist in the American Southwest Conference opener at 6 p.m.
