ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy tennis team won 5-2 against the NAIA Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles on Thursday at the Streich Tennis Center for the fourth win of the year.
Hardin-Simmons swept the doubles point, winning all three flights.
Gabriel Harris and
Payne Smith won one doubles 6-3,
Maddux Foster and
Kayden Lengacher won two doubles 6-3, and
Pedro Rozani and
Brandon Curiel won three doubles 7-5 against the Eagles.
Payne Smith had to take it to tie breakers in a split-set win at first flight singles. He defeated Roman Gonzalez Leeks 6-4, 5-7, 1-0 (10-6).
Maddux Foster won the second flight of singles for the Cowboys 6-2, 7-6 (9-7) playing Raphael Alvado.
Pedro Rozani took the fifth flight of singles in another split-set Cowboy win against Preston Callahan. Rozani won 6-7 (2-7), 6-3, 1-0 (10-6) in the comeback.
Kayden Lengacher finished the day with a win at flight six singles, 6-1, 5-7, 1-0 (10-5), defeating Manuel Espinal.
Hardin-Simmons will take to the East coast next week to play in Hilton Head, South Carolina with the first match against West Liberty University on March 7 at 1 p.m. central time.
