ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowboy soccer fell to the University of St. Thomas Texas by a final score of 5-1 on Saturday night at the HSU Soccer Complex.
Hardin-Simmons added a goal to equalize from
Landon Newman to make it a 1-1 game, but the St. Thomas Celt offense was relentless and ended with a 5-1 win in the end.
UST shot 22 times with 18 shots on goal to ten shots by HSU with two shots on goal.
The Hardin-Simmons' goalkeepers combined for 13 saves in the loss, with six each from
Joel McPherson and
Joaquin Sanchez.
Cayden Francis added one save in the final 12 minutes for the Cowboys.
The Cowboys fell to 1-3 on the season and will play again at home on Friday, Sept. 18 against Texas Lutheran at 7:30 p.m. in Abilene.
