ABILENE, Texas – Hardin-Simmons' Cowgirl soccer team defeated Texas A&M-Victoria 4-1 on Saturday afternoon in the home opener at the HSU Soccer Complex.
The Cowgirls trailed early with an opponent goal off a free kick ten minutes into the game.
Hardin-Simmons had the benefit of an own goal off a deflection to make it 1-1 in the 25
th minute.
Freshman
Lorena Jaimes broke through for the first goal of her career in the 30
th minute with an assist from
Andie Hafner to give the Cowgirls a 2-1 lead.
Hannah Linstrom, another freshman, connected for her first Cowgirl girl with a ball in from
Rainey Surratt just before halftime to make it 3-1 Hardin-Simmons at the break.

Aras King won her own penalty kick on an attack and finished with a southpaw goal into the corner to make it 4-1 Hardin-Simmons in the 52
nd minute to finish the scoring in the win.
Hardin-Simmons led with 22 shots and 11 shots on goal in the contest and only allowed ten shots and two shots on goal. HSU forced eight corner kicks against the Jaguars as well.
Samantha Longoria started at goalkeeper and had one save in the first half. Freshman
Rebecca Hall came in for the second half and played 31 minutes before
Peyton Scott came in for the final 14 minutes in the win for HSU.
The Cowgirls improved to 1-1-1 on the season with the big offense and will play against Trinity on Thursday, Sept. 17 at 7:30 p.m. at the HSU Soccer Complex.
